The following links can be of use for finding the Greek etymological roots of the English lexis:
- Etymonline.com is a free online database providing etymological roots for the English language. It is quite analytic and professionally made, yet it is sometimes lacking alternative etymologies. You can access by clicking here.
- The lexicon of English Etymology by the Reverend George William Lemon (1726-1797) is an exhaustive piece of work. Nevertheless, many of the etymologies his cites herein are considered by some contemporary linguists as being oudated, especially after the advent of the theory for a Proto-Indo-European, otherwise still hypothetical, language. Interestingly, the Reverend is especially assuming in the Greek etymological roots he cites. You can access his book for free by clicking here.
